Two Municipalities, One Community

The RM of Lac du Bonnet and the Town of Lac du Bonnet are two separate municipalities — but to most people who live here, it is simply home. That shared identity is one of our greatest strengths.

Residents move between the RM and the Town without thinking about municipal boundaries. They shop, work, attend school, access healthcare, and gather for community events in both. The boundary matters for governance and administration, but it does not define how people experience this place.

Why Collaboration Matters

When the RM and Town work together, we are stronger. A joint Economic Development Strategy means we are not competing with each other for investment — we are presenting a unified community to the outside world. That matters when businesses are deciding where to locate, when developers are looking at housing opportunities, and when we are making the case to provincial and federal partners for funding and support.

I have been a strong supporter of this collaborative approach throughout my time on Council. It is not always the easiest path — two councils, two administrations, two sets of priorities — but the results speak for themselves.

Shared Services, Shared Benefits

There are real efficiencies to be found when municipalities work together. Shared services, joint planning, and coordinated infrastructure investments can stretch limited resources further and deliver better outcomes for residents on both sides of the boundary.

This is not about amalgamation or giving up local identity. It is about being practical and recognizing that many of the challenges we face — housing, infrastructure, economic growth, healthcare — do not stop at a municipal boundary.

Looking Ahead

As Lac du Bonnet grows, the relationship between the RM and the Town will only become more important. Getting that relationship right — built on mutual respect, clear communication, and a shared vision for the future — is one of the things I am most committed to in the next term.

We are two municipalities. We are one community. And together, we are stronger.
